Creating a new sermon in Sermonary is easy! There are three different ways to begin writing:

  1. You can write a sermon from scratch in Classic Editor.
  2. Use our Sermonary Editor to create a message in Blocks Mode.
  3. Or, write a sermon from one of our six Pre-Built Templates (or use a custom template you created).

Classic Editor

If you’re a traditional writer looking for a sleek, simple starting place, Sermonary's Classic Editor is the route for you.

While in the Sermonary dashboard, click the blue Write New button on the upper right-hand side of your screen. Next, select the Classic Editor option. From there, you’ll be directed to your new sermon.

At the top of the screen, you'll see a place to fill in your sermon's title, passage, and big idea. You also have the option to place the message into a new or existing series. Next, begin writing your sermon in the allotted space below. When you return to your dashboard, you'll see your new sermon at the top of the screen.

Sermonary Editor

Our Sermonary Editor is the recommended option for writing sermons. In our Sermonary Editor, you can split your message into clean “blocks” based on what piece of material you are presenting (Bible Verse, Illustration, Quotes, etc.).

While in the Sermonary dashboard, click the blue Write New button on the upper right-hand side of your screen. Next, select the Sermonary Editor option. From there, you’ll be directed to your new sermon.

Simply fill in the blanks with the appropriate information and press the blue Add Block button (or the small addition sign) to add your first block. Repeat this step for each block you wish to include until finished. To edit a block, simply click it.

Pre-Built Templates

The third way to write your sermon (which includes various options) is to use a pre-built template. You can create a template (view our How to Create a Custom Template blog to learn how to create your own template) or use one of the six pre-built templates we’ve designed for you.

While in the Sermonary dashboard, click the blue Write New button on the upper right-hand side of your screen. Next, select the Pre-Built Templates option.

Next, select any of the six options, and you’ll be directed to your new sermon with that selected template (to use a custom template, press the dropdown arrow, select “Custom Templates,” and choose the one you made). Simply fill in the blanks with the appropriate information. You can also add or delete any blocks in a pre-built template.
